I'm Alive.
I promise I'll get back into the swing of things soon! I am so excited for fall, I can barely stand it. I'm ready for tights and boots and gloves and scarves and dark colors. (On a somewhat related note: I can't wait to see The September Issue!)
Today I decided to change things up and wear a polka dot skirt that's been in the back of my closet forever. I paired it with this great bat wing top, oxford heels, and a long elephant chain. I am loving black and brown together lately.
Ignore my wet hair please and thank you.

Brittany

Name: Brittany
Age: 21
Location: Nashville, TN
Size: 20
Describe Your Personal Style: Hmm I would never limit my style to a simple word or phrase but if i must I would describe my style as Classic Chic with a splash of color and a gallon of Glam ;)
Favorite Places to Shop: I don't really limit myself to certain stores but a few of my go-to stores include Torrid, Forever21, Target, and Asos, and I plan to start shopping at Dorothy Perkins and Evans (they have some really cute clothes).
Fashion Icons: Mary Kate Olsen, Rihanna, Blake Lively, Rachel Zoe, Victoria Beckham and I'm currently in love with Karla from Karla's Closet
Current Obsession: Pockets, bows, leather, statement jewelery and any shoe with a 5-inch heel and platform.
Advice to other YFF Girls: Confidence is key when it comes to fashion especially with being a YFF girl because most people feel as if “fat girls” shouldn’t be caught dead in certain trends. However if you have the confidence to pull it off, you’ll have your friends looking to you for fashion advice! That’s why I always say (and it’s written on my blog) “I love to be told what not to wear because I will break all the rules."

J.

Meet J, the gorgeous girl who just started the new fashion blog, Fatshionable. If I were you, I'd read it, because she most definitely knows what she's talking about. The epitome of stylish, she looks just as chic in blue jeans as she does in a little black dress. Her amazing designer shoe collection includes Louboutin wedges, Dries Van Noten chunky heels, Pour la Victoire lace stilettos, and Sigerson Morrison flats (...and trust me, that's just the beginning). This girl knows how to combine high and low end pieces to create looks that are simply divine; I've never seen anyone make Torrid jeans look this good.

Age: 24
Location: San Francisco Bay Area
Size: 16/18
Favorite Places to Shop: Asos, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Barney's Shoe Sales
Fashion Icons: I think Gabi of YFF, Christina of Musings, and Stephanie of BigBeauty, are my primary sources of fashion sense these days. I also always love seeing what Kim Kardashian and Anne Hathaway are wearing.
Current Obsession: Leather, well-placed bows, and lace heels.
Advice to other YFF Girls: A great outfit is often ruined by bad shoe choice, so keep a critical eye. If you are trying to incorporate high end pieces into your wardrobe I think it’s best to start with classics unless you are sure you will love a trendier piece for a long time! My wardrobe is a mix of high end and low end and my outfits usually are too. I think this is a good balance. Definitely get rid of (maybe donate?) things that no longer fit. Pare down your closet until it is only filled with things that you love and make you feel fabulous.

New At Dorothy Perkins
I need money, ASAP. I am pretty much torturing myself by writing a fashion blog since I can't afford any of the things I feature. I was browsing the Dorothy Perkins site, and (as always) found a ton of new things I'm dying for. I have been looking for the perfect sequined blazer for over a year now (and yes, I'm still obsessed with sequined leggings too).

1. Sequin Boyfriend Jacket
2. Color Block Dress
3. Black Crinkle Biker Jacket
4. Ruched Sleeve Tunic
5. Lime/Animal Print Tunic
6. Jade Body Con Mini
7. Blue Croc Purse
8. Bow Ankle Strap Flats
9. Purple Bodysuit

I did splurge on something recently though; I have been drooling over those amazing studded Chloe booties forever. You know, the ones everyone has wanted since they came on the scene last year. After reading The Musings of a Fatshionista and seeing that Free People is now selling some almost identical knockoffs for a thousand bucks less than the originals, there was no doubt in my mind I had to have them. I do not regret this decision at all (though I may regret writing about it, because my mom reads this blog and will kill me when she finds out...sorry mom!)

New Look Ships Internationally
I'm happy to report the UK retailer New Look is now shipping internationally! Those of us in the U.S. can now get our hands on some of these amazing items (they also ship to Ireland, Belgium, Germany, Poland, The Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Australia, Italy, and Switzerland). New Look's plus size line, Inspire, offers sizes up to UK 26 as well as wide width shoes! I've made a list of my fave pieces below:

Jibri Fall/Winter '09

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of attending The Art of Fashion in New York, an event that featured Jibri's Fall/Winter '09 Collection. Using mostly muted tones like grey and plum, the line was completely cohesive with Jibri's usual structural aesthetic (high collars, ruffles, etc). I wish the hemlines were a tad shorter (surprise, surprise), but overall I'm digging it. Check it out and let me know what you think:

Bad News Good News
So, I have bad news and good news. The bad news is that I am leaving New York. It's been really fun and I've had some amazing experiences, but I haven't found a full-time job, and obviously NYC isn't exactly the best place to be with no money. The good news is that once I'm home, (besides having my own bed), I will be able to post more frequently. Since I won't be living out of a suitcase, I'll also be able to share my outfits a lot more. Honestly, I'm excited to return to Detroit, I miss the Midwest terribly.
For my last Saturday night in the city, I wore a cute colorblock body-con dress sent over from Jen's Fashion Plus and my Calvin Klein Mary Janes. Definitely could've used some more accessorizing, but I was running late.
