So those of you who are die-hard YFF readers will know that in one of my first ever blog posts, I wrote about Stylista, a reality show on the CW in which the contestants were competing to win a job as junior editor at ELLE magazine. One of those contestants happened to be a plus-size girl named Danielle, and I totally loved her. I spotted her recently while shopping at Forever21 and instantly recognized her! Since I've been meaning to start back up with YFF Closets again--the first one had a crazy response--I asked if I could feature her and she said yes!
Since Stylista aired, Danielle hasn't lost her love of fashion; she's worked in retail consistently and is currently a personal shopper for NYC women. With a super cute Brooklyn apartment and a trendy personal style, Danielle's favorite places to shop include Urban Outfitters, H&M, Anthropologie and Forever21. See her fabulous closet and her favorite wardrobe picks in the video below:
I have more fatshionable New Yorkers lined up to feature soon! If you're stylish and want your closet on YFF, email gabi@youngfatandfabulous.com.
I love her honesty! The part about the shoes hurting was hilarious! I loved her items from H&M! I am gonna go to Gap and get those comfy shoes too. Thank you so much for sharing this video with us! Kiah
I loved the shorts and the Shirt she had on the end. I was just at H&M and I felt like i couldnt wear anything in there. so no im a go back and try on some 12's and see if they fit! GOOD LOOKIN!!!!
I love her outfits! mostly the shoes and the last top she had on! super cute! i'm über excited that Vienna is finally getting a Forever 21 store! thanks for sharing thise video! :)
It seems like that show was on forever ago, but I really liked it and honestly Danielle is the only person I can remember. I guess when I watched it I could instantly relate to her as being plus size and she's just stuck in my mind.
By the way, this is certainly my favorite feature you have on here! I love peeking into other peoples closet.. in the least creepiest way possible.
After reading the block of the chick who won, it's probably better Danielle DIDNT win. It sounds like her current profession is 39 time baller as a personal stylist. Thank you for filming her closet!
My bf totally has the boy version of that Ozzy tee. I won't tell him it exists in a girl version, though I have worn his a few times. Also, hurray for someone else who would probably have 70 pairs of sunglasses if they would just stop breaking! I have such a bad habit of just throwing them in my bag when I take them off, I'm down to 8 pairs right now (with 2 more on the way) I don't have a problem...
I love her style too, but I'm sad there were so many items from urban outfitters and H&M featured - nothing fits me there! H&M goes up to a 16 here, but it's a pretty small 16. Maybe I'll have to go back and see if I can find anything there! I'll just look for the stretchy stuff, I guess. I do love the closet features, but I would love for you to bring back the posts where you feature like 6 outfits of another fatshionista. Mainly because I want to be that fatshionista, lol! www.curvycanadian.blogspot.com
Hey Everyone! I have a new blog post with an awesome vintage 80s blouse. I think it would definitely appeal to you, Gabi!!! I would love to hear what all of you think!
woow girl! you have great style. i have read about your webside in polisch newspaper! good job to show people that you dont have to have perfect body to be happy and look great! <3
oh my goodness Im coming to New York this june from Australia...can all you new yorkers tell me where to go shop??? Oh and how hot is it there that time of the year because we leave winter to your summer I think....ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED xo
I love the confidence of these young ladies. It's big middle finger to the style industry that says, "Yes, I'm FAT, but dammit I look amazing.". I firmly believe this is a much more positive message than the host of "anti-obesity" campaigns out there. Not promoting fatness per se (I, too, am a fat girl), but promoting a healthy body image and teaching young girls to be their best, regardless of size. The fat-hatred that is taking over our society needs to be fought and bloggers like you, me, and the plethora of others out there are doing just that. Thanks for you input and contribution to making the world a bit more tolerant of fatness. Love it!
