So after MUCH thought (seriously, it's been almost a year), I've decided to change the name of my blog to GABIFRESH. I know many of you definitely have an emotional attachment to the name YFF, and I do too! The change is due to a combination of personal, political, and professional reasons, and I really had a hard time deciding whether to keep it or not. My blog has evolved so much from 2008; it has become a personal style blog and I wanted the name to reflect that. I hope that you'll continue to support me regardless of what I call this thing! (Who knows--maybe I will feel like changing it back after a while...)
I appreciate all of your support and I hope you guys know that the content will stay the same! You can now come here by going to gabifresh.com OR youngfatandfabulous.com. I'm still trying to figure out what to do about the facebook page--they won't allow name changes :(
So it's not all text, here are a few terrible quality webcam shots of today's outfit! The drapey harem pants are from Babooshka Boutique on Etsy and I absolutely love them. They don't carry plus sizes, but I emailed the designer asking to have them custom made, and she was happy to do so (for a small fee for extra fabric, etc). Etsy is full of great designers and most of them are totally willing to custom fit items.

I'll manually change the name of your link on the front of my blog to GABIFRESH. Hopefully linking it in this comment will help it be found by search engines as well. Sorry I haven't commented much lately. Love your blog and seeing pretty plus-sized fashions that I could wear myself.

You're just too good at this. Honestly, my favorite outfit i've seen in a while. LOVE that necklace.
ReplyDeleteAnd as for the name change, people will get over it lol.
are you planning to delve into why you decided to change the name? do you find that the word "fat" makes it hard to be taken seriously as a professional, or is it no longer the way you self-identify? I realize you don't owe me or any reader an explanation for this, but I'd definitely be interested in hearing your reasons if you're willing to share them.
ReplyDeleteI don't care what you choose to call the blog, people love it for you, not the name! I do like GabiFresh though, it sounds cool. Cute outfit, I love your necklace! :)

Young fat and fabulous gave me a lot of confidence, but I definitely think a name change is cool. If it helps you take your career further GO! I was really happy to read about you in the NY Times :)

I love your blog and you are very inspiring to me. The new name reminds me of Doug E. Fresh though, LOL. But it's all good, keep up the good work! Peace :-)
ReplyDeleteI think that the name change is a good idea. Being that I am a size 2 and not a fat and fabulous girl but I still love your blog. Because you are about fabulous independent style no matter what your size.
ReplyDeleteName change is great. You'll probably lose a lot of weight soon anyway like most of the fat and fabulous people who get famous and then shrink down for health reasons.
ReplyDeletejust keepin it real!!
I understand not wanting to be pigeonheld.
But uh! I Love the new name!
