My body-hugging ensembles seem to be the most popular, but I love a good shift dress--the more potato-sacky, the better. I know they're not the most "flattering" or "slimming" items, but I couldn't care less. I think they're super chic and effortlessly stylish; I've been wearing this floral one from ASOS non-stop since I got it. So easy to throw on and go, and the autumnal colors make it the perfect transitional piece.
Though I style photo shoots here and there, I hardly consider myself a stylist. Still, I always have a million shoot ideas dancing in my head; plus size editorials are seriously lacking and there are so many cool concepts I'd like to see executed. In the rare case a fashion mag actually shoots plus size models or starlets, they're usually nude or horribly styled (and newsflash: styling curvy women in lingerie or 50s pinup clothing for the millionth time isn't fresh or innovative). Most recently, Carine styled Gabourey Sidibe for Harper's Bazaar and it was...tragic (more here if you haven't caught up on that yet).
Anyway, I often buy stuff I hope to use on models in future photo shoots, but lots of it ends up collecting dust. I fell in love with the Jeremy Scott x Adidas french fry bathing suit (eBay!) and the Miss Sixty lip print dress a couple years ago and thought I'd put together a pop art inspired editorial--it never happened. I've been staring at them again lately, so when my boyfriend and I were bored with way too much energy at 3 am, I decided I'd just put 'em on and we could have our own impromptu mini-shoot.

Crop tops and high waisted skirts are all the rage right now, and I think the combo looks great on all body types. Bonus: both pieces are usually made of stretchy fabric, which means straight sized options can often fit size 20 and beyond. (NastyGal has a ton of awesome oversized and/or stretchy crop tops). The top and skirt I'm wearing below are size 12 from TopShop!

Huge thank you to blogger/photographer Isaiah Johnson for meeting up with me this weekend and taking these shots!
Many of you may recognize my tutu from the outfit posts I did from Paris...As much as I love it, it's been sitting in the back of my closet since. When Azeeza invited me to the Azza S/S '14 runway show hosted by Refinery29, I knew I'd have a chance to dust the skirt off and wear it again. The blush color paired perfectly with her absolutely stunning turquoise beaded collar and cuff, and to make things a bit more casual, I wore them with a tee I got from a street vendor in LA. I love Biggie and grabbed it right away--it wasn't until I was wearing it yesterday that I realized it had the whole mustache meme thing going on...so stupid! Oh well.
In July, I went to Montreal with Nadia Aboulhosn and Karyn Johnson to shoot Addition Elle's "I Have Great Genes" campaign, and I'm so excited that it's finally here! In the video, we discuss what we find beautiful physically, but also how true beauty is about confidence and style, regardless of what you look like.
The best part about the campaign is that it's not just about showing off their fall denim collection, it also involves you guys. I get daily emails from women asking if I have any advice on how to break into the plus size model industry--well, here's your shot. This video is kicking off Addition Elle's model search to find their next new face, and it starts September 3rd. AE works with plus super models like Ashley Graham and Denise Bidot, so this is a huge deal. All you have to do is upload your photos to their Facebook page, and the public and judging panel will vote. The top 5 will be flown to NYC for a photo shoot, and the winner will win a feature in their upcoming lookbook, the chance to sign with JAG modeling agency (formerly Ford+), and a $1000 shopping spree! I will be on the panel, along with representatives from Addition Elle, JAG, and editors from ELLE Canada/ELLE Quebec. I can't wait to see your submissions!
I've been traveling so often lately that I feel more at home in airports than my own apartment. Usually I'm on a 6 am flight (since they're the cheapest), which means comfort is key--but I do try my best to still look put together. I have my go-to travel outfit down to a science: comfy pants, a tee, a scarf, and flats. After spending one too many flights next to a crying baby or rowdy kid, I am happy to report that I now own noise cancelling headphones, and they are a gift from God. Lastly, I've talked about how I much I like my Ultrabook before, and I'm happy to report that's still the case. It's great for those of us who have to work on the road, because it has the functionality of a laptop (with a keyboard!) and the ease and weight of a tablet. The awesome news? You can enter to win one!

My style is classic and casual when I'm carrying my Ultrabook, but you can take the Ultrabook style quiz and see what yours is. Then, head to their Pinterest page for instructions on how to create a board around your style and enter to win the Ultrabook that fits you. Lastly, share your board on their Facebook page. There will be 6 winners, one in each style category, and they'll receive the Ultrabook and $500 to Rakuten.com. Good luck!

Last week I had the pleasure of collaborating with Azeeza Khan, designer of Atelier Azza, whose breathtaking designs have the fashion industry buzzing after only a year on the scene. While she doesn't technically offer plus sizes, many of her pieces are one size fits all, with free flowing fabric that works for a variety of bodies. Azeeza is the sweetest, and I'm so honored that she chose me to participate in this street style shoot (shot by the amazing Emma Arnold) celebrating her S/S '14 collection. The runway show and party is this Thursday in Chicago! For more info and to see the full Refinery29 slideshow, click here.
I can't get enough of the sporty look lately, and I like finding ways to mix active wear into my regular wardrobe. I loved this white mesh workout tee from Lane Bryant, and decided to pair it with my leather ASOS skater skirt. Autumn can't come soon enough...I'm already playing around with mixing textures and falling back into my default color combo of white, black and oxblood.
