fun, not flattering

I've loved oversized drop waist dresses for a while now, but they've been really hard to find in plus sizes! I'm fully aware that's because drop waists are not considered a "flattering silhouette" for curvy girls, but that made me even more determined to find them! When I spotted this one from SimplyBe--in pink and grey snakeskin print no less--I was ecstatic. I know some might think this dress makes me look bigger, but (in case you're new to this blog) I couldn't care less. Clothing should be a way to express yourself, not slim yourself down.

  7. Totally agree with you! It's been on my agenda for a while (I've been eyeing this one for a while too). I'm just worried about my woo-ha showing (I'm 5'10"--not afraid of a mini but the summer breeze LOVES to expose my big undies:-]).

    LOVE this look!

  17. It looks exactly how it's supposed to look: Big and boxy. It looks that way on smaller frames as well. Not my particular cup of tea, but you could make me a believer with this dress. It looks great on you, so I'll leave the fashion risk taking in your more than capable hands.

  19. That's a really cool dress! You're right, I like drop waists too and the last 2 I've bought accentuate the wrong curves for my liking...

  20. I love this dress on you! It looks amazinggggg! I especially like how it hits you right above the knee and lets you show off a lil' leg. How tall are you? Being just under 5 ft tall makes it so hard for me to find dresses like this where I don't look like I'm drowning in the fabric.

  21. This color looks great on you girl! Honestly without the accessories I wouldn't be much of a fan of the dress itself, but I love the pairing with the shoes + statement necklace + neutral but textured clutch. It's great to experiment with shapes and styles, you do it so confidently!

  22. You really wouldn't think that a (slightly) oversize drop waist dress would be flattering but this one looks fab on you. The color, shape, and print all look great. Like it a lot.

  24. Rules, schmooles! I'm 5'3 and all about the crop jeans; I have 34D and I rock horizontal stripes!

You rock it. However, I think it's a hard style for anyone to pass off. Just today I passed this fairly tallish, and very thin/model-like woman wearing a dress this style. It look cute, but not "omg". Its kind of like rompers, IMHO. It depends on the designer/cut :)
